May 6th Update
• Oxygen still between 25-30% (not a bad thing)
• He has been trying to breath above the vent but is struggling with that. They believe its because it's hard for the vent to synchronize with his breathing - it can only do so much. So they've added NAVA, which long story short synchronizes to his breathing patterns, and he's doing really well on it.• Remodulin went from 10 to 8 yesterday, and today they took him down to 6. She's thinking he may be off it completely by the weekend. Which means the PPH is becoming more and more controlled 🙌
• Still going up in his feedings, no poop yet but his stomach is still soft so no concern just patiently waiting.
• ENT took a look at his airway and they didn't find anything that would explain the suction resistance/head placement. They spoke with Pulm and they feel he's in a good enough place to have a rigid broncoscopy done. They'll bring him to the OR, remove the vent and insert the broncoscope (which will provide the breathing support while the vent is removed) and get an image of what, if anything, is going on inside his airway. She said if he is ready, they'll leave him off the vent, but if not they'll put him back on.
